EOS HOLDING
EOS Holding is a strategic holding company whose purpose is the coordination and representation of the interests of its shareholders, in particular through its membership of the Alpiq Group and active involvement in various projects, especially those relating to new sources of renewable energy.
On 26 March 2002, the principal electricity companies of western Switzerland created EOS Holding, as a result of profound changes within Energie Ouest Suisse (EOS). The purpose of the new holding company is to establish a strong electricity platform in Western Switzerland.
EOS Holding has been a key player in the creation of the Alpiq Group following the restructuring of its operational assets, in particular the merger of its subsidiary EOS SA with the company Atel Holding and the transfer of energy rights to the Emosson dam by EDF in January 2009. This was a significant step in establishing a key electricity production centre in western Switzerland. With a turnover in excess of 15 billion CHF, Alpiq is a new electricity company in a strong position; its business operations extend across Europe and it is a market leader in Switzerland.

EOS Holding has announced that it is acquiring eight wind farms in Germany, encompassing 88 turbines with a total annual production of 320 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), equivalent to the average annual consumption of 80,000 households. This transaction makes EOS Holding one of Switzerland’s leading generators of wind power.
